Un Cantar de Ezra Pound

El estado de Aguascalientes está en pleno despegue económico, pero a cierto precio. Hay veces en que para olvidarse de todo lo único posible es volver a la poesía. Pound siempre es un puerto seguro. Y, además, es acertado. Va con dedicatoria. Quien tenga oídos para oír que oiga. Si algún día abrimos una revista impresa en Aguascalientes (al menos durante este sexenio) este poema será el editorial.

With Usura

With usura hath no man a house of good stone
each block cut smooth and well fitting
that design might cover their face,
with usura
hath no man a painted paradise on his church wall
harpes et luz
or where virgin receiveth message
and halo projects from incision,

seeth no man Gonzaga his heirs and his concubines
no picture is made to endure nor to live with
but it is made to sell and sell quickly

Con usura no tiene el hombre casa de buena piedra
cada piedra de arte liso y bien acomodada
para que el dibujo pueda cubrir su rostro,
con usura no tiene el hombre un paraíso pintado en el muro de la iglesia

o en que las vírgenes reciban el mensaje
y un halo se proyecte de los cortes

no se pintan cuadros para durar o vivir con ellos
sino para venderse y pronto
